Insects, fungi and plants are the organisms discovered in the Costa Rican forests during 2011.

Among these 53 new species, the experts say most of them are mites, beetles, fruit flies, wasps, lice and nocturnal butterflies or moths.

In the wasp group, a new scientific order was created: Dentalion, which groups 8 species.

The National Biodiversity Institute (INBio), in charge of the inventory, explained it’s too soon to confirm if these species are endemic, according to information provided by Univision.com

In Central America, 26 new types of insects, 19 kinds of plants and 8 species of fungi were discovered.

The biodiversity of the country includes 500.000 species, from which 75% can be easily seen because they are insects.
