The fair WTM (World Travel Market) 2011, which took place in London on November 7th-11th, awarded Costa Rica for being the country with the best stand.
The exhibition space of Costa Rica in the London fair was 250 m2 and it highlighted the abundance of natural resources in the region and its promotion of sustainable tourism, something that made it different from many other world destinations.
Elements like music, sound effects of the tropical forest and its overall structure transported the judges to Costa Rica and were very helpful for the selection by the organizers and participants, as well as by the virtual community through Facebook.
By knowing about the award obtained in this event, the Minister of Tourism, Allan Flores, considered it’s an incentive to keep working hard in the promotion of the destination in very profitable markets for the country, according to information given by the press department of the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT).
The competitors of Costa Rica in the fair were Ireland, Poland, Kerala Tourism and Slovenia.
