Thanks to an alliance created in December 2011 between the Bank LAFISE and Rainforest Alliance, Sustainable Tourism is developed in Costa Rica.
Costa Rica is one of the leader countries in the development of policies destined to promote sustainable tourism. It’s also known worldwide for promoting a Model of Tourism Development that tries to balance the financial, natural, human and social capital.
The project of Sustainable Tourism is carried out through the Green Miles program of LAFISE, where people with credit cards like the Classic, Gold, Platinum or Signature will have opportunities to win trip packages and stay at hotels that qualify with the requirements of Tourism Sustainability of Rainforest Alliance.
Rainforest Alliance works with hotels, restaurants and other tourism companies to improve their environmental, social and economical practices. Through training and technical assistance they are taught how to operate in a sustainable way and later checked regarding their improvements towards this target.
In order to participate the clients will get one mile per $1 paid with their LAFISE credit cards. If you don’t have enough Green Miles, you can pay the package with a combination of miles + money, or through additional charges to your LAFISE credit cards or debit accounts.
This agreement will continue throughout 2012, with the idea of supporting and promoting tourism packages that allow locals and tourists know the main natural attractions of Costa Rica. The Green Miles program of LAFISE was created with this objective.
Latin American Financial Services (LAFISE) is a banking entity created in 1985 to offer banking services in Central America and the Caribbean. The main function of LAFISE was to serve Central American and Caribbean companies with their foreign currency transactions and with the currency exchange in the region, as well as facilitating the access of these companies to important markets through the creation and trading of financial instruments.
