You can participate in the National Mule Festival as from February 2nd, which is arranged by the Welfare Association of the Canton of Parrita with the support of the Costa Rican Tourism Institute

Activity program:

- February 5th: ATV race and tractor rally

- February 11th: horse parade at noon

- February 12th: traditional mule race

- Everyday: exhibit of farming and industrial machinery, concerts and dance performances

As initiative of the Welfare Association of the Canton of Parrita (ASOBIPA) and with the support of the Costa Rican Tourism Institute , the National Mule Festival is celebrated once more as from February 2nd, 2012.

Raising funds to build part of the grandstand of the arena that isn’t finished yet is the main objective of this celebration in Parrita, Puntarenas, few hours away from the capital city.

Parrita is one of the 15 cantons with the greatest growth in the country due to its large number of tourism projects and hotel zones. It has been the host for the festival for more than 10 years.

If you would like to go to this festival remember that the Hotel Parque del Lago is your entrance and exit gateway to the country, with the best location, parking lot, sustainability and promoter of the Costa Rican culture.

Entertainment for everyone

You can be an actor or viewer of many activities in the festival, such as: horse and mule race, riding competition, tractor rally, horse parade, dance performances, machinery exhibit, food stands, election of Señorita Parrita (Miss Parrita), carousels and bumper cars, among others.

The entrances for the riding competition cost around ¢4.000 ($8).

Here you can also admire and buy the beautiful handcrafts of the zone.

Protected festival

This edition is counting on 40 officers from the Public Force and 10 members of private security, who will look out for the welfare of Costa Ricans and tourists.

In the area of the fairground you can find several stands of the Red Cross in case you suffer an accident.

February 12th will be the last day of the festival, and is ending with dance performances and other surprises.
