It is a true privilege to have a 72-hectare park as the backyard of our hotel. Throughout the week, the La Sabana Metropolitan Park, known as San Jose’s air filtering lung, is a great place to play with children. A running track is perfect for skating or bike riding, while numerous grassy fields offer fun time for playing soccer or baseball. On the weekends, La Sabana is the playground of many Ticos who do not enjoy the privilege of having their own yard. On Saturdays and Sundays, a man sells homemade kites on the southern side of the park. Several young kids, hoping to make some extra colones, bring nice ponies for inexpensive rides around the manmade lake.

Our 10 minute distance from downtown makes it easy to discover the few hidden jewels of San Jose with your children. La Plaza de la Democracia, next to the adjoining Museo Nacional, has a small but well-stocked souvenir market. The Museum for Children houses a large collection of science, art, space and nature exhibits. For more information on San Jose’s sites, contact our front desk personnel. Our staff will gladly guide you through other interesting tours available for your family. And remember, the Inter American Highway, leading to most Pacific coast beaches and the Northern plains is only 2 minutes away from our doorstep. The Juan Santamaría International Airport is 15 minutes away on the same highway, while the smaller Tobias Bolaños Airport, offering mostly domestic flights, is only a 5 to 10 minute drive away. Our airport shuttle will gladly take you to either hotel.

Apart from our own friendly and informal Iconos Restaurant, offering both breakfast and lunch buffets, a kid’s menu as well as diverse international classics, many restaurants lie within a 10 to 15 minute distance from the hotel. Anything from Peruvian, Italian, Lebanese to the never-will-fail-you McDonald’s or KFC are all relatively close to the hotel.

The nearby suburbs of Rohrmoser and Escazú are both handy options for shopping and dining. Major malls and shopping centers, offer all kinds of eating and shopping alternatives.
